Challenges Facing the International Criminal Court
The imposition of U.S. sanctions against the International Criminal Court began following the court's decision to legally pursue individuals accused of war crimes in Gaza. These sanctions were specifically imposed following the court's decision to issue arrest warrants against Israeli officials as suspects in these crimes. However, Fatou Bensouda noted that these sanctions cannot affect the court's ability to continue its activities.
