Kiefer Sutherland, the famous Hollywood star, shared reflections on his life and career at the premiere of his new film "Father Joe" in Venice, attended by Al Pacino. In this conversation, he noted that his life and career have changed significantly compared to two decades ago when he shone as Jack Bauer in the series "۲۴".
Fighting Aging and New Challenges
Sutherland smiled as he recalled the days when he could shoot action scenes for ۱۲ hours straight. But now he continues his work with a knee brace and anti-inflammatory medications. He joked, "I use these medications much more now than I did ۲۰ years ago!"
In the film "Father Joe," directed by Bartholomew Grossman and written by Luke Besson, Sutherland plays the role of a New York priest seeking justice for the youth of his city, battling criminals and a mafia boss played by Al Pacino.
New Experiences and Learning
Sutherland talked about the fighting style he learned for this film, saying, "I had to learn a different fighting style and I learned a lot in the process. I only got injured twice!" Referring to his ۶۰s, he mentioned the challenges of his passion in this field and his concerns about the dryness of work. He added, "I know there are always ups and downs, and that's natural."
This actor also recalled a tough period at ۲۷ when he was out of work for several years and felt hopeless. Emphasizing the importance of love for his work and the fear of losing it, he said, "This feeling is real and very scary. But every time things improve, I feel a deep sense of liberation."
Sutherland last appeared in the film "Tinseltown," which was released in ۲۰۲۵.
