On a day filled with excitement and competition at the Shanghai track, a terrifying incident occurred that left everyone in awe. Luke Hartog, a ۲۳-year-old Dutch driver, with his exemplary bravery and selflessness, saved the life of his fellow competitor, Ali Milroy, in a critical moment. Milroy, during the China GT championship race, faced a severe fire in a multi-car crash, and his vehicle was engulfed in flames.

Without hesitation, Luke Hartog exited his car and ran towards Milroy. He used a fire extinguisher to put out the flames and, in a heroic act, opened the car door and pulled the driver out. Milroy wrote about this: "I am alive tonight, and I owe it to one man. Luke saved my life with his courage."
Milroy, who suffered serious injuries from the crash, with five broken ribs, a broken collarbone, and a bruised lung, is severely injured but knows that his situation could have been much worse. Expressing gratitude towards Hartog, he said: "One day I will tell this story to my children, and Luke will be their greatest hero in history."
Criticism of Track Safety
However, this incident raised serious questions about safety at race tracks. Milroy's team, AAI Motorsport, announced that they would no longer participate in any race organized by China GT and strongly criticized the safety standards of the track. They emphasized that the fire in Milroy's car lasted over a minute, and no timely and effective action was taken to rescue him.
The race organizing committee also expressed regret over the incident and promised to conduct a thorough investigation and implement necessary improvements.
