These agreements were signed with the aim of expanding cooperation between the two countries in the areas of defense, energy, and modern technologies.
Emphasis on Defense and Security Cooperation
Emmanuel Macron emphasized the importance of expanding defense and security cooperation between the two countries during this meeting, stating: "This cooperation means continuing the joint fight against terrorism and ensuring regional security." He also noted that France's selection as the first destination for the Iraqi Prime Minister's European trip demonstrates Paris's ability to play a balanced role in the Middle East. Macron added: "Efforts for stability in the region require defending the interests of the French people."

Memorandums of Understanding in Various Fields
During this meeting, memorandums of understanding were signed in the fields of artificial intelligence, energy, and defense. Fuad Hussein, the Iraqi Foreign Minister, and Ilanour Caro, Minister of State for European Affairs and Foreign Affairs of France, signed agreements to enhance opportunities for youth, research, and innovation. Additionally, a roadmap for developing defense capabilities between the French Armed Forces Ministry and the Iraqi Ministry of Defense was signed, which is dedicated to securing military equipment.
Furthermore, Ali Saadi Wahib, the Iraqi Minister of Electricity, signed a memorandum of understanding with Patrick Pouyanné, the Chairman of the Board of the French company Total, regarding a gas supply and sales contract. A declaration of intent for cooperation in the field of civil aviation was also signed between the transport ministries of Iraq and France.
Finally, a strategic cooperation agreement in the field of air defense was signed between the Iraqi Ministry of Defense and the Harmattan Artificial Intelligence Company, demonstrating the commitment of both countries to strengthen security and defense in the region.
